Locksmith's tips for Handles on a backplate

If you are fitting new handles onto an existing lock or latch you may need to use the existing imperial sized bar which is smaller.

If you are changing the colour of your handles or your existing locks and latches are old and cranky, just replace them as they are inexpensive and most of ours will just slip into the old hole.

If you order new locks and latches, remove the old one and take your measurement from the front faceplate to the back of the lock.

We can also supply new hinges to match most handles, just measure the height and total width of the open hinge and we will do the rest.

Always drill pilot holes for your screws to prevent damaging the heads or breaking the screws.

Try to get all slotted screw heads running in the same direction to give a really professional look.

When you are fitting new doors, decide on the height that the handles are to be fitted to and make sure this is exactly the same on all doors. Be sure to fit them straight, there is nothing worse than drunk handles.
