Locksmith's tips for Window hardware

Get the position of all fittings correct before starting to fit and drill pilot holes for all screws to prevent damaging the screw head or snapping them

Some fittings are designed for windows with rubber seals

Tighten up hinge screws to pull windows up before fitting handles on casement windows

Make sure sash windows close properly before fitting catches — there is usually a build up of paint that may need removing.

If your sash windows stick try rubbing a candle on the surfaces where the window slides

Window stays come in three lengths but be aware that the shorter the arm the smaller the opening
